New investment in healthcare in Nigeria

In March 2017, Hygeia Nigeria Limited, an associate company of CIEL Healthcare in Nigeria, concluded the acquisition of Gold Cross Hospital, a 35 bedded multi-specialty hospital in Lagos. The acquisition also includes Gold Cross MRI Diagnostics, a fully operational diagnostic centre with MRI, CT Scan and other diagnostics facilities.

Hygeia Nigeria Limited already owns Lagoon Hospitals in Nigeria and is the leading private healthcare provider in the country. All its facilities in Nigeria are managed by CIEL Healthcare Africa, in association with Fortis Healthcare.

“We are confident that this acquisition will increase access to quality and affordability of healthcare services in Nigeria, by expanding our activities and achieving optimal operational efficiencies. Furthermore, this acquisition also fits into CIEL Healthcare’s overall strategy of transforming its healthcare delivery companies into regional medical hubs,” says Alex Alexander, Managing Director of CIEL Healthcare Africa.
