CIEL is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark van Beuningen as Group Strategy & Investment Executive, effective from May 1st, 2024.

Mark’s addition to our leadership team represents a significant move - reinforcing our strong focus on growth, with a specific emphasis on expanding our presence in Asia, notably India, and East Africa. In his role, Mark will oversee our Group corporate and investment strategy and its execution, building on existing strengths and accelerating new growth drivers.

Mark joins us from his previous position as Group CEO of CIM Financial Services Ltd. (CIM Group), bringing a wealth of experience in both strategic and operational capacities. With over a decade of executive leadership and strategic management experience, he has a strong track record of delivering shareholder value.

His background in strategic consulting from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), demonstrating expertise in strategy, operational improvement, and valuation across various industries coupled with hands-on CEO experience, aligns seamlessly with CIEL's ambitions and solidifies our commitment to excellence. Before that, he worked in Macquarie Bank’s Structured Finance team in Sydney and as Audit Manager for KPMG Financial Services Assurance in Cape Town. Mark holds a Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Finance and Accounts from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management. He qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst in 2007 and Chartered Accounted (SA) in 2005.

His expertise combined with our professional and well-established team, positions us strongly for the next phase of growth and investment at CIEL.

"I am pleased to welcome Mark to our Group in this key position of Group Strategy & Investment Executive. His leadership and operational experience combined with his strong credentials in strategic thinking, execution and a solid track record of value creation will be important assets in accelerating growth drivers and carrying out our strategic roadmap" said Guillaume Dalais, Deputy Group Chief Executive.

Commenting on his appointment, Mark van Beuningen added: “I am very pleased to join CIEL at this stage of their growth journey. The prospect of contributing to an International Group with a robust and well-established growth pipeline is truly exciting. I look forward to collaborating with the teams to lead new and existing strategic investments but also drive initiatives that will fuel sustained growth, operational efficiency and increased investor value.”
