GROUP CHIEF ENGINEER - SUN RESORTS
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Finance Officer, the Group Chief Engineer will define the long and short-term strategy and goals of the Group’s maintenance departments. He/ She is responsible for overseeing the entire engineering/maintenance operations of our business units by working in close collaboration with the Maintenance Managers and service. He/she should ensure that all assets are well maintained and costs are optimised by ensuring synergies across business units and implementation of effective solutions in response to maintenance challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate the strategy/goals of the Group to the maintenance managers and professionals in the team;
- Supervise every phase of the engineering project from start to completion;
- Perform quality control checks on all systems and products;
- Own and manage the Group Maintenance budget;
- Approve designs and budgets of engineering tasks;
- Work in close collaboration with the resort’s operations and the supply chain department to set up essential maintenance contracts;
- Design and follow implementation of planned preventive maintenance programme for the Group;
- Oversee the general maintenance of all life safety systems across all resorts and report any major defect;
- Provide competent ‘hands on’ skills to ensure all resort services, systems, fixtures and fittings are maintained in perfect working conditions and ensure all defects are corrected promptly;
- Resolve any defects requiring any further materials or skills and communicate with the resort general manager on any legislative requirements;
- Evaluate and recommend energy conservation programmes and ensure effective implementation;
- Ensure that all administration files are kept up to date including drawing prints, specifications and equipment, technical maintenance manuals, etc.;
- Ensure compliance to regulations;
- Review all the engineering aspects of the Group’s renovation projects and be involved for its implementation; and
- Report to management or the Board when required.
Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field;
- Certified Maintenance and Engineering Expert and Leader with at least 10 years work experience in Maintenance and Engineering, including Hotel Maintenance Management experience in a senior role;
- Excellent leadership qualities to supervise the maintenance team of the Group’s business units;
- High level of discipline and ability to lead by example in ways of working to inspire good practices internally and externally;
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills;
- Focused on results and solution-oriented; and
- Project Management Skills.
