C-Care, part of the healthcare cluster of CIEL Group, is a Mauritian private healthcare group, owning and operating the two main private healthcare facilities in Mauritius, namely Clinique Darné and Wellkin Hospital. C-Care also owns and manages C-Care Clinic and C-Lab.

 

C-Care is currently looking for a Pathologist for its business unit, C-Lab.

 

PATHOLOGIST

The Pathologist must be able to diagnose a range of diseases. He or she should be capable of grossing of specimens in laboratory and independent reporting of cytology and histopathology cases. He or she should be able to interpret and report peripheral in hematology. He or she will also be required to guide other sections of the laboratory. He or she should be aware of the quality management systems for ISO 15189 and should be able to help in the processes for maintaining accreditation.

 

What you will be doing:
  • Examines microscopic samples to identify diseases or other abnormalities. Diagnoses diseases and studies medical conditions using techniques such as gross pathology, histology, cytology, cytopathology, clinical chemistry, immunology, and molecular biology.
  • Analyzes and interprets results from tests such as microbial or parasite tests, urine analyses, hormonal assays, fine needle aspirations, and polymerase chain reactions. Communicates pathologic findings to surgeons or other physicians.
  • Should be able to guide laboratory staff and other doctors regarding specialized and outsourced tests.
  • Reads literature, talks with peers, and participates in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in pathology.
  • Reviews cases by analyzing laboratory findings, and case investigation reports.
  • Writes pathology reports summarizing analyses, results, and conclusions.
What are we looking for?
  • Recognition as qualified Medical Officer in Pathology/Specialist in Histopathology
  • Experience and skill in the field of pathology required – At least 5 years post MD.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to determine the type of disease, its severity and extent.
  • Good problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients and doctors
  • Ability to interpret and report frozen section would be an advantage.
